iven some of the previous posts I've written, it should come as no surprise that today, I'm going to spotlight
Diana Gabaldon. She's one of my all-time favorite authors, and her Outlander series is still going strong, with the 9th book coming out in June. I'm also excited because the cable channel Starz is making a mini-series based on Outlander. Part of me doesn't want to watch it, because I have such a distinct mental picture of the characters, but the other part of me is really excited to see the book brought to life on the screen. If you're an Outlander fan, will you watch the show?

Next up is
Abby Gaines. I had the pleasure of meeting her a few years ago at a reader conference, and she was so pleasant and charming. I had read her books before going to the conference, and it was
really nice to find that the author of the books I liked was so nice.
Have you met your favorite author before? What was the experience like for you?
Aw how awesome you've gotten to meet both ladies! I've got them on my tbr pile (and one of Gaines in my nightstand). One day I'll get this pile all the way tackled...maybe. lol
ReplyDeleteI've gotten to meet quite a few of my favorites either at book cons or just locally. One of my all time favorite historical authors lives just a couple miles from me and we attend a lot of the same functions which has been fun :)
Happy A to Z-ing!

How fun that you get to see your favorite author on a regular basis! :)
DeleteI've never met my favorite author before, but I'm sure some freaking out will occur when I do.
ReplyDeleteMost definitely! :) It's kind of expected.
DeleteOh I love to meet my favourite author, very jealous :)
ReplyDeleteI hope one day you get to! :)
DeleteI am a huge Diana Gabaldon fan. Have read the Outlander series multiple time as it take Ms. Gabaldon so long between books (hmph!) You got to meet her? What was she like? I think she's a brilliant writer. I too am nervous about the Starz adaption as I have been disappointed by their other original programming based on books I didn't even read. I am surprised ms. Gabaldon gave the rights to Starz. Anyway, looking forward to the next book, although for me, the first four in the series are the strongest.
ReplyDeleteBest regards,
Elizabeth

Thanks for stopping by today! I agree with you, I think the first 4 books are the strongest, and my favorite is Drums of Autumn. It will be interesting to see how the show is adapted for the small screen!
DeleteI haven't read the Outlanders series, but I sure hope I get to see the mini-series on TV. Thanks for the info! :)
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure! I hope you get to watch the show! :)
DeleteYou got to meet, not one, but TWO of your fave authors? That must have been an unforgettable moment... so inspirational...
ReplyDeleteI'm very lucky, that's for sure!
DeleteSo, so cool that you got meet DIANA! I'm seriously jealous :)
ReplyDeleteShe's as awesome as you expect her to be :)
DeleteI've only read the first book in the Outlander series, but I really enjoyed it. That's great you got to meet one of your favorite authors! Love when that happens. :)

It was a great experience! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI actually haven't met any of my favorite authors. I'm a shut in and while I'm sure they're all wonderful people, I probably won't go out of my way to meet them. Is that sad? If I had the opportunity--like they came to Orlando, and I knew in advance, and it didn't cost an arm and a leg, and I could figure out what to do with the kidlets... I'm just going to stop right there.
ReplyDeleteNot sad at all! You never know, one might travel to Orlando on a signing tour, and there's your chance! :)
DeleteI was lucky enough to meet David Sedaris once--as I'm sure you've noticed I'm a bit of a comedian at times--and was over the moon! Cool that a series could last that long with modern day attention spans.
ReplyDeleteWas he as funny in person as he is on the page?
DeleteYou know, I have one of Diana's books on my book shelf which a friend gifted to me years ago which I still haven't read- shame on me.
ReplyDeleteYou have time to read it before the show starts! :)
DeleteHey, Lara, nice to "see" you! I have some favorite authors I've never met...I have a million things I'd like to say to them, but I'm sure they'd all fly right out of my head!
ReplyDeleteHi Abby! Good to 'see' you again as well! I understand what you mean--I become a blabbering idiot when I meet someone I really like and admire. Makes a great impression, I'm sure :)
DeleteLove Herself and her books! I'm still trying to figure out how I might watch it. Did they say which UK channel it might be on? Maybe I could get that in Switzerland. Or figure out how these VPN things work...
