Celebrate the Small Things - Patience edition

Hi everyone!  I'm writing to apologize for missing the last few weeks of this hop, and to ask for your patience as I will probably be on hiatus a little bit longer.  Life is crazy right now, and unfortunately, blogging is kind of low on my to-do list.  Please bear with me!

Hope you're all doing well!  Enjoy your weekend!

Celebrate the Small Things - Fingers crossed edition

Happy Friday!  I hope you've all had a nice week.  We're keeping busy here, making slow but steady progress in packing (us) and writing (me).  I'm pleased to report we have an offer on our house! We responded with a counter-offer, so cross your fingers the potential buyers respond favorably!  I know I'll be on pins and needles until we hear back...

Any big weekend plans?  We have a birthday party to attend on Saturday--the little girl in question is very interested in science, and I'm excited to give her a couple of books and a dress with test tubes on it (it's cuter than it sounds, trust me!).  On Sunday, Mister and I are going to the symphony, which should be fun.

What's going on with you?  Let me know!

P.S. I'm also hosting some giveaways that run through the weekend!

Celebrate the Small Things - Reboot edition

Hello! I'm sorry I've been remiss in posting the last few Fridays--life's been busy.

This week, I'm trying to look at my stressors in a different light. I have some deadlines fast approaching, but I am blessed because deadlines mean I have a contract. We're moving soon, but we are fortunate to have a lovely home, and we never have to worry about Little Roo not having a safe place to sleep. Sometimes I slip up and revert back to being stressed, but I'll keep working on it!

Today, Mom and I are going to our local library to see Susan Wiggs and get books signed. Should be fun. The rest of the weekend is all business--packing and writing, yippee!

What are you up to this weekend?

Celebrate the Small Things - Gardening edition

Hi everyone!  Happy Friday!

I don't know about you, but I had a pretty decent week.  I managed to get a fair amount of work done, and I also took a night off and went to bed early so I could catch up on some sleep.  I had a nice swim date with a friend (which Little Roo enjoyed immensely) and it was good to catch up with my friend and her mom, even though I did get a little sunburned.

Mister and I have big plans this weekend.  Our side yard is in need of major attention, so we're going to spend Friday and Saturday evenings gardening. It will be hot, but it needs to be done.  Then we need to start packing...

What are you up to this weekend?  I hope you have something fun planned!

Celebrate the Small Things - Catch up edition

Hello, everyone!  I'm sorry to have missed the last few weeks of posts, but time simply got away from me.  I'm happy to report we're all doing well, and I've got lots to celebrate!

My latest book, Enticed by the Operative, releases in digital form today and in print on Tuesday!  It's the first book in my Doctors in Danger miniseries, so I'm pretty excited.  Here's the back cover blurb, if you're interested:

The lives of a beautiful surgeon and her DEA agent protector are at stake in this thrilling tale!
On a medical mission to South America, Dr. Olivia Sandoval hardly expects to be threatened by a drug cartel. To save lives, Olivia agrees to transport drugs for them. When DEA agent Logan Murray appears as her partner-in-crime and rescuer, Olivia's relieved…and drawn to her knight in shining armor.
Logan jumps at the chance to guard a beautiful woman and bring down a drug ring. After all, neither he nor Olivia are looking for forever love—just justice. But one kiss changes that as they go on the run. When taken hostage in the jungle, they must not only defeat the enemy—but also escape with their lives!
I'm also happy to report that I got the edits back for Dr. Do or Die, the second book in my Doctors in Danger miniseries, and I managed to write a fairly decent synopsis for the third book in the series--at least, I thought it was decent.  Keep your fingers crossed my editor likes it!
I have some book giveaways going on at Goodreads, and I have some guest blog posts next week (complete with giveaways!) so please watch this space--I'll post details as soon as the links go live!
It's a holiday weekend here, and Mister has Monday off.  I think we're going to spend some time with family, which should be nice.  We may even have a date and go get pedicures together--I had to twist his arm to get him to go the first time, but he realized he likes the way it makes his feet feel so it's been a lot easier to convince him to go again.
What about you?  Any big plans for the weekend?

Celebrate the Small Things - Musical edition

Happy Friday!  Sorry to be a little late in posting, but the day got away from me.

This week, I'm celebrating my recovery from the sinus infection from hell. I still have a few sniffles, but I feel loads better compared to this time last week.  Hooray for modern medicine!

Today, Little Roo had her first music appreciation class.  She had a blast! We sang songs, chanted, danced, and they had several kid-friendly instruments for her to play with.  She even played alongside a little boy and his sister, which is huge because she's normally a watcher rather than a player. The class meets every Friday until August, and I'm excited to go back next week :)

We don't have any big weekend plans--just errands and the usual weekend stuff.  What about you?  Tell me what's going on so I can live vicariously through you!

Celebrate the Small Things - It takes a village edition

Happy Friday!  Hope you've had a better week that me--I'm sick.  I think it's a sinus infection, and it's the worst one I've had in years.  It's really knocked me out, and I'm so lucky that my Mom lives nearby, because she has been a lifesaver the past few days.  She's watched Little Roo while I napped, and she's the only reason we've made it through the week.  If I'd been on my own, the baby would have been parked in the pack-n-play in front of the TV all week.  I honestly don't know how single parents survive, and I hope I never have to find out!

Fortunately, I got my book turned in before falling ill.  And I'm happy to report that I'll be writing another Colton family book, which will be released next May!  I had a blast writing Colton Baby Homecoming, and I think this book will be just as fun! :)

Any big weekend plans?  I'm hoping to regain my sense of taste and smell soon, and I'm also hoping to feel well enough to attend a free symphony concert on Sunday with the family.  Little Roo loves music, and I hope she'll enjoy it.

Hope you have a good weekend!

Celebrate the Small Things -- A little bit of everything edition

Happy Friday!  I've got lots to celebrate this week, so let's get started!
Lara Lacombe Nashville skyline
The view from the wedding venue...
I missed last week's post because we were traveling to Nashville for my brother's wedding.  It was the first time we had tried to travel with Little Roo, and I'm happy to report she was a real champ.  She slept through most of the flights and did pretty well in the hotel, too.  She was also a very good sport about the number of people who wanted to meet her/hold her/talk to her.  Overall, it was a very successful trip, and the wedding itself was lovely.

Speaking of weddings, on Monday Mister and I had our second anniversary.  We went to see Captain America to celebrate (fun movie, I would recommend it) and this weekend we are going to the symphony which should be a nice treat.

We got a new washer and dryer, and I am loving it! Our old set still worked, but it was a little too small and I got tired of doing load after load after load of laundry.  The new set is bigger, and I've already made quite a dent in my laundry backlog!

I hope to get some writing time this weekend.  My book is due next Friday, and it has a title--Dr. Do or Die.  What do you guys think?  They're working on the cover now, and I can't wait to see it!

That's it for me.  There are some cool things brewing on the writing front, but I'm not allowed to talk about it yet--you'll just have to stay tuned! ;)

Celebrate the Small Things - Wedding edition

Happy Friday!  It's been a nice week here, and I hope you can say the same. This week, I'm celebrating the upcoming wedding of a dear friend.  The actual wedding isn't until September, but she's in full planning mode and I'm getting to help a little.  We're meeting today for lunch and wedding dress shopping, which should be a lot of fun.  Mister and I had a simple courthouse wedding (which I wouldn't change for the world), and it will be nice to help her plan her ceremony. :)

I joined Pinterest so we could exchange ideas on dresses, flowers, and the like.  I really don't know what I'm doing, but if you'd like to connect there, I'd love to see you!

Celebrate the Small Things - New cover edition!

Happy Friday!  I hope everyone had a good week.  Things are proceeding apace here, and I really can't complain--life is good, and I hope you can say the same. :)

This week, I'm excited to share the cover for my July release, ENTICED BY THE OPERATIVE.  If you subscribe to my newsletter (see the link on the left side of the page) you've already seen this, but if not, it'll be new to you!

Sound like your kind of book?  It's up for pre-order now!  Check out the Harlequin page, where you can find links to buy at all the major retailers on the bottom right of the page.

I hope you have a nice weekend!  Mister and I may go out to lunch on Sunday, but we are expecting a round of severe thunderstorms that day. Hopefully we won't see any hail, but Texas spring storms are known for being unpredictable.

Celebrate the Small Things - Factory settings edition

Happy Friday!  What did you get up to this week?  Anything fun or exciting?

This week, I'm celebrating our return to health.  I'm finally done with the cold, and while Little Roo is still a tad stuffy in the mornings, she's just about back to normal.  It was a pretty gentle introduction to illness for her, as far as these things go, so I'm glad for that.  Things could have been much worse.
This weekend, I hope to get caught up on all the A to Z posts everyone is doing.  I'm hoping to participate again next year--this year just got away from me (again!), but I do love the hop and it's always so much fun to see everyone's theme and read their posts.

What are your weekend plans?

Celebrate the Small Things - First day of Camp edition

Hello, everyone!  How was your week?  I'm still dealing with the effects of my cold, and I'm sorry to report that I managed to pass it on to Little Roo. It's the first time she's been sick, and frankly, I think the experience has been more traumatic for me than her.  Keep your fingers crossed she bounces back quickly!

Today, I'm celebrating the first day of Camp NaNoWriMo.  I love these camp sessions--I have a hard time writing 50K in a month during the official NaNoWriMo, but the camps let me set my own word count goal.  Makes me feel productive :)

Is anyone else doing Camp NaNo?  If so, I'd love to be in your cabin!  My user name is Lara Lacombe.

Celebrate the Small Things - Sniffles edition

Happy Friday!  I hope everyone has had a nice week.  I don't have much to report today, as I'm currently feeling a bit under the weather.  It's just a cold, but that doesn't make it any more enjoyable.  I hope you're all doing well, and hopefully by this time next week I'll be back to my usual self.

Have a good weekend!

Celebrate the Small Things - Another giveaway!

Happy Friday!  I hope you all had a good week, and that you didn't forget to wear green on St. Patrick's Day!  I actually stayed home, so my lack of seasonal color wasn't an issue :)

This one was dead, but still pretty!
This week, I'm celebrating getting to go to the butterfly exhibit at the Botanic Gardens.  It was a beautiful day, and the butterflies were quite active (hence my lack of good pictures--very few of them sat still long enough to pose for me!).  Little Roo seemed to enjoy it, even though the place was packed (thanks, spring break).  I hope they do something like this again as she gets older so she can really see the butterflies.
I also wanted to let you know about a giveaway over at Just Romantic Suspense.  It starts on March 19 (Saturday), and you have a chance to win 10 books of your choice.  It's definitely worth checking out, especially if you enjoy romantic suspense.  I'm offering up a copy of Colton Baby Homecoming, and there are a ton of other great books to choose from!

I hope you have a great weekend!  We're going to keep things low-key, as we may have some bad weather roll through.  Got anything fun going on? Tell me about it!

Celebrate the Small Things - New release edition!

Hello!  Another week down, and it's already March--am I the only one who finds that crazy?!

This week, I'm celebrating my latest release, COLTON BABY HOMECOMING!  This is part of the Coltons of Texas miniseries, and centers on Ridge Colton and Darcy Marrow, former lovers who run into each other again during a murder investigation.  Here's the back cover blurb:

An abandoned baby in danger brings together the Coltons of Texas in this gripping series
Someone has left a baby on the porch of search and rescue expert Ridge Colton's log cabin. Who? And why? A loner, Ridge knows nothing about caring for an infant. But when the woman who broke his heart years ago shows up to help, he's reminded of everything he once almost had.
From a wealthy family, Dr. Darcy Marrow was dissuaded from loving the man whose name meant one thing in town: shame. But with a dangerous thug trying to kidnap the baby, Ridge discovers how far he'll go to protect the little one, Darcy…and his long-guarded heart.
If this sounds like your kind of book, I hope you'll consider picking up a copy!

Celebrate the Small Things - Democracy edition

Happy Friday!  What's going on in your corner of the world?  Anything exciting?  Please share!

This week, I'm celebrating early voting.  I wasn't sure if I would be able to make it out to the polls on March 1, but I had a nice surprise when I stumbled across an early polling place today.  Five minutes later, I was done!

I have no interest in discussing politics here or elsewhere online, but I strongly believe voting is one of the most important things we can do as responsible citizens.  Please, take a moment (or several!) to check out the candidates and vote in the primary election.  If you're not registered, please do so before the general election in November.  Go Team Democracy! (Okay, really it's more like Go Team Representative Democracy, but that just doesn't have the same ring to it...)

Celebrate the Small Things - Social media edition

Happy Friday!  Is it just me, or is this year really flying by?  Maybe it's just the sleep deprivation talking...

I've had a nice week.  I finally succumbed to the 'wearable fitness monitor' trend, and bought myself a simple pedometer.  Mister and I have both joined Weight Watchers, and while we've been doing well on the program, I haven't been tracking my exercise as much as I need to.  This little device takes on the job for me, as it automatically updates my progress so I don't have to worry about it.  So far, so good!

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about social media and how I use it.  I've decided to try a new experiment, and set up a 'street team' of sorts, using Facebook. Basically, I'm going to set up a group (I think I'm going to call it Lara's Lab), and invite people to join.  I hope to use the group to talk about books, hold giveaways, and promote romance reading.  If that sounds like something you'd be interested in, find me on Facebook and I'll add you to the group!

That's it for me this week.  I hope you're all doing well.  Any big plans for the weekend?  Let me know!

Celebrate the Small Things - Honey-do edition

Happy Friday!  I hope you've all had a nice week.  We're trucking along as per usual here, which is nice.  Nothing terribly exciting to report, but nothing distressing either, so I can't complain.

This week, I'm celebrating lists.  We have a lot of stuff do to around the house, and I finally realized nothing was going to get done unless I wrote it all down.  It's easier for Mister and I to tackle things if we know exactly what needs to be worked on.  Plus, there's the satisfaction of crossing off items as we complete them, which is an added bonus.

Do you make lists?

P.S. There's still time to enter my giveaway!

Celebrate the Small Things - Reviews and Giveaways, oh my!

Happy Friday!  I hope you all have had a nice week.  It's finally starting to get cold here in my neck of the woods, but thank goodness we don't have the kind of winter weather the east coast is dealing with!  As you all know, I am not a fan of snow!

This week, I'm celebrating a nice review for my March release, Colton Baby Homecoming.  RT Book Reviews gave it 4 stars and said "Ridge's chemistry with Darcy sizzles."  Yay! :)

I have a giveaway for this book starting tomorrow on Goodreads.  You can use the widget below to enter, if you're interested.  Good luck!

Celebrate the Small Things - That's a wrap!

Hi, everyone!  I hope your 2016 is off to a great start!  I am currently persona non grata, at least where my cats are concerned.  I took them to the vet yesterday, and they still haven't forgiven me for it.  I'm hoping to be back in their good graces by the end of the weekend, and I think the liberal application of treats may help my cause...
Happier times...
This week, I'm celebrating the submission of my July release, Enticed by the Operative!  I sent the manuscript to my editor, so now I'm turning my attention to the next book while I wait to get the copy edits back.  I always have mixed emotions when I finish a book--overwhelming relief that it's done, but also a little bit of sadness that I have to leave the characters behind.  Anyone else feel the same way?

What are you celebrating this week?  Any big plans for the weekend?  Tell me about it!
