Another week has passed, and now it's time to Celebrate!

Life has finally started to settle back down, and in honor of the new house, I'm doing more cooking. Right now, dinners are rather simple affairs and revolve around what I can prepare quickly or what I can cook in the crock pot. My Gentleman Friend and I have wildly different work schedules (he's out the door by 5:30 am, I leave in the afternoon and get home by 9:30-10:30 at night) so we don't get to eat together. I've been fixing things that I can eat during my dinner break and keep warm for him to have when he gets home. Did I mention how much I love my crock pot? It is the loveliest of inventions. I have a few stand-by recipes, but I'm having fun experimenting. One such experiment is simmering now, and if the smell is any indication, it should taste pretty good!
Do you cook with a crock pot? Have any good recipes to share? And what are you celebrating this week?
If you've been reading my blog, you know that Fridays are reserved for a post where I celebrate the little things that have happened during the week. This is a blog hop hosted by VikLit, and it's one of my favorite blogging things to do. I encourage you to check out her blog and the full list of participants, because who doesn't love reading about good things?
My mom used to cook with a crockpot sometimes. It made delicious food! I really have to see if I can get one over here in Egypt. Thanks for the idea! :)
ReplyDeleteI love my crock pot to. I really started to use it after I retired, and then wondered why I had never used it when I was working. I even bought a small one for our RV. I make up the fixings and store everything needed for a recipe in the freezer...and then dump it frozen into the pot. When we're camping it's great to come back to a warm meal that's ready to eat. I like to cook boneless, skinless chicken breasts, shred them then add various types of sauces for tacos, sloppy joes, etc.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great idea--thanks! :)
DeleteI don't use my crock pot enough. I use it for chilli, soup, pulled pork, and beans (refried, pinto or black for mexican dishes) but that's about it. Oh, I do have a recipe for shredded chicken that we use on enchiladas and burritos.
ReplyDeleteSounds delicious! :)
DeleteI have a book nearly one inch thick with nothing but veggie crock-pot recipes--happy to share!
ReplyDeleteI have a crock-pot cook book too--it's been a life-saver! :)
DeleteYay for crock pots and recipes :)
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't eat if it wasn't for my crock pot, largely because my schedule is very similar to yours and I am NOT cooking dinner at 9:30pm at night!
ReplyDeleteMy fave recipes come from my "Fix it and forget it" cookbook- each one contains five ingredients or less. My faves are chili and chicken and vegetable soup.
