Welcome back to the
A to Z challenge! Today we're exploring the letter B.
First up is
Ben's Chili Bowl, a D.C. institution. Located on U Street in the Shaw neighborhood, Ben's is a longstanding D.C. tradition. They serve amazing chili dogs and chili burgers, and everyone who is anyone has eaten here, from movie stars to Presidents. They're right down the street from the 9:30 Club, so if you're out for a show, be sure to grab dinner here first!
Next is the
Black Cat, a popular music venue. It's in the U Street/Shaw neighborhood as well. I saw many great concerts here, so if live music is your thing, you'll definitely want to check out their schedule!
That's it for the letter B. Have you eaten at Ben's? I love the chili dogs, but I could be persuaded to get a chili burger...
A walk down memory lane for me. One of the best chili dogs I've ever eaten!
ReplyDeleteAnd such a fun atmosphere, too!
DeleteJust popping in to say “Hi” from the A-Z Challenge List :)
ReplyDeleteGreat post honey, good luck with the rest of the challenge!
xx
Thanks, Vikki! Good luck to you, too! :)
DeleteFellow A-x challenger stopping in to say hi. I have had chili dogs, chili fries, but never a chili burger. Must try; sounds awesome.
ReplyDeleteIt's probably pretty good, but I haven't had one myself. Guess I'll have to try one!
DeleteThere's no better street food than chili dogs... topped with lots of onions, of course! It's not good date food, but still delicious.
ReplyDeleteNo, more like "We've been married for awhile" food :)
DeleteMan, I have to get to D.C. just to eat some of Ben's Chili
ReplyDeleteYou really should! :)
DeleteI must get my behind to D.C. soon and go to Ben's Chili... and visit other interesting places that might be located there too BUT not before I eat lol It looks great and now I'm hungry.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to try it someday--it's worth the trip!
DeleteWow! By the end of this month i'm going to have an itinerary a mile long!
ReplyDeleteThat's the plan! ;)
DeleteLike Beverly I'm going to have quite a "to-do" list for a trip to Washington! Ben's sounds like a must!
ReplyDeleteI think you'll really enjoy it! :)
DeleteI love your idea for the Challenge! What a great way for readers to experience a little of D.C.
ReplyDeleteMM
PS: The same letters are giving me fits, too.
Thanks, MM! I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with for those 'difficult' letters :)
DeleteNever been to DC but these sound like two great tips!
ReplyDeletePut them on the list in case you ever visit :)
DeleteI'm enjoying the tour so far. I'll be in Arlington at some time this spring. ...now I want a chili dog, darn it!
ReplyDeleteJust a hop, skip, and a jump over the river! FWIW, don't go at night...
DeleteNever been in the US but if I go sometime, I'll make sure to try one of those burgers.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit to the Dragon Cave. It's nice to meet you! :D
Likewise! ;)
DeleteMmmmm...
ReplyDeleteI know, right? Does it get any better than a good chili dog?!
DeleteI haven't eaten at Ben's, but it sounds yummy. Sadly, I don't know of a place to get excellent chili dogs and chili burgers around here. Though I hear there's a very popular hot dog joint that does all kinds up in Denver.
ReplyDeleteShannon at The Warrior Muse
That sounds promising... :)
DeleteI LOVE chilli dogs! Actually, anything with chillie... and sweet chillie chutney! Yummy!
ReplyDeleteNever tried sweet chili chutney--I'll have to add that to my list!
DeleteThe chili bowl, awesome! My hubby had chili on eggs yesterday, couldn't believe it! He loves the stuff!
ReplyDeleteMy recipe came in second in a local contest -- not bad, probably not hot enough! :)
I actually don't like it to be too spicy--much tastier when my tongue isn't on fire! :)
