Celebrate the Small Things - Conference edition

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope you all had a nice week.

Lots of activity here this week.  Little Roo started school on Tuesday.  She's going 3 mornings a week, and it has been hard for me to let her go.  She's never been away from me or her dad or grandma before, and it's tough to leave her with strangers.  I know this is what is best for her, and I know it won't take long before we all adjust, but right now I'm probably having more trouble than she is with the change.  I thought I would relish having some uninterrupted time to write, and part of me does, but a bigger part of me can't stop worrying about her while she's at school.  I guess that's just life as a mom though--there's always something to worry about.

On a lighter note, we're in Scottsdale right now for the Desert Dreams conference.  I'm participating in the Reader Experience on Saturday, and I'm really excited to meet readers and hang out with fellow book lovers.  If you're in the area, I hope you'll stop by the book signing on Saturday night. It starts at 4:30 pm, and you can find more details about the conference, the reader experience, and the signing here.

That's it for me this week.  What's new with you?  Any big weekend plans? Let me know!

Photo Friday - Road Trip!

What's that, you ask?  Why, it's a map of San Antonio!  I'm heading there today with a fellow RWA chapter-mate to take a Saturday writing class, taught by legal thriller author Robert Dugoni.

I was lucky enough to meet Mr. Dugoni at SIWC 2011.  I took a short class from him there, and even got to have lunch with him.  I found him to be an excellent teacher and a kind and interesting person, so when I found out he was teaching a class closer to my neck of the woods, I jumped at the chance to learn from him again.

Fellow writers, have you taken any writing classes before?  Who would you most like to take a class from?

Fellow readers, which author(s) would you most like to meet?

There's no place like home...

I had an awesome time at the RWA national conference this year, but boy am I glad to be home!  In keeping with tradition, I woke up with a sore throat this morning--I'm really hoping it doesn't turn into a cold or something, although it's not uncommon for me to get sick when I go out of town.  Oh well.

I took lots of notes and will spend the next few weeks getting them organized and written up so I can share the wealth with all of you.

In other news, I was able to pick up a last minute pitch session at the conference.  I'm quite excited to report that the editor requested my full manuscript and a synopsis, so cross your fingers for me!  Hopefully she'll like Edge of Trust as much as I do! :)

Hope you all had a good week.  I'm off to bed, provided I can get the boys to share...
Oh, you're back?

Having at great time!

Just a quick update to let you know that I'm still alive and having a great time at RWA in Anaheim.  I've taken so many notes, and I'm excited to share what I've learned with you guys once I get back (and sleep)!

Conference weekend!

I'm off to the DFW Writer's Conference this weekend, and I'm quite excited!  It should be a great time...

Tune in next week for conference notes, and in the meantime, happy writing!
