My assistants are not nearly as helpful.
Meet Josh. Josh is my alarm clock--he enjoys waking me in the middle of the night to let me know his food bowl is empty. If I don't respond in a timely manner, he starts chewing on my books. Sometimes, he likes to supervise my writing, and his contribution generally involves pawing at me or rubbing against the monitor. Very inspiring.
You've met Toby before. He has decided that he needs to sleep right next to me on the couch, pinning me into one position and giving me a hurt look if I decide, for the sake of my circulation, to move. Very thoughtful of him.
So those are my furry little helpers. I get a kick out of them, even though they are high-maintenance goofballs. Do you have any four-legged assistants? How do they 'help' you write?
I had four (3 cats and a yorkie)and now I'm down to two (2 cats). The youngest (the calico) used to wrap herself around the back of my neck while I wrote. Now she's just too heavy and likes my hubby better. Although when I'm working really hard at the computer she'll walk up to me and tap me on the shoulder. The older one (tortoise shell) will come and stand on my desk between me and my monitor as if saying, "Do you know what time it is?" She wants to go to bed and she curls up on top of me to sleep...all fifteen pounds of her. She never did this until I disappeared to the hospital for a month. Now, it's a nightly routine. Also when I move the mouse arrows around the screen she'll chase it. Needless to say neither cat helps me be productive.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how a sleeping cat becomes the most dense object in the universe? It's very polite of her to tap you on the shoulder--mine prefer to yell at me. :)
DeleteWe have three cats. They leave me alone while I'm at the computer. They've learned I really don't have lap space available.
ReplyDeleteThat's nice of them to leave you alone--I guess you're not entertaining enough when you're typing :)
DeleteI love kittens, but am highly allergic! I do have a Boston terrier, Patches, she is my angel. And she hates my laptop, it sits where she wants to, so instead she'll sit on the couch propped up with her face resting on her paws over the arm rest, just watching. But every time I try to get that picture, she changes position or runs!
ReplyDeleteYou've got lovely pictures!
How adorable! You'll have to get someone to take the picture for you--I'd love to see it! :)
DeleteI have Frida to help me. She is the reincarnation of Ann Miller, Ginger Rogers or Carmen Miranda, since she likes to tap-dance across manuscripts (the printed type) or my laptop's keyboard - such a satisfying clicking noise it makes. I have a post about her being the embodiment of the legal concept of an 'attractive nuisance'. She's small, brown and chunky with golden eyes.
ReplyDeleteSounds adorable! :)
DeleteI don't currently have any four-legged helpers. When the dogs were still around they were always in the same room with me. Since they were large dogs they weren't allowed to be on the furniture, but they got as close to me as I or furniture allowed. I do miss having furry babies, but not enough yet to go invest in new ones.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll rescue one (or some) when you're ready :)
DeleteI have 2 furry friends. My 18 year old feels the need to lay across my arms as I try to type on the computer.I like your helper, Lara.
ReplyDeleteAww, how nice of the elderly one to contribute to your efforts! :)
DeleteSo adorable! Thanks for sharing these pics with us- so snugglable!
ReplyDeleteMy four-legged friend Buddy used to attempt to be the center of attention by placing himself directly on my keyboard. Thankfully I've trained him out of that, but he still enjoys interrupting my computer time with requests for fetch.
Buddy sounds like quite the helper! Glad you trained him out of standing on your keyboard. :)
DeleteSo adorable! I can't help tweeting about mine, especially when they're being, as you say, "helpful" [vbg]
ReplyDeleteI always love seeing the pictures of your fur babies :)
