Meanwhile, in a bookstore...

www.123rf.com
Gentleman Friend: "Hey, did you find anything?" Pauses, looks at my collection.  "I was only gone for a few minutes--how did you get so many books in such a short amount of time?"

Me: "I don't understand the question.  Did you find anything?"

Gentleman Friend: "Sure did--check it out!"  Holds up one book.

Me: "Is that all?"

Gentleman Friend: "Yeah.  I already have a stack of books at home, so I don't want to get too many."

Me: *blinkblink*

    1. No kidding! How can you leave with only one book? That's like... only eating one potato chip, or asking a mother to pick a favorite child.

  4. What does this phrase "too many" mean? Is that like where you can't see the surface of your bedside table, or the wall behind it to height of a metre because your tbr pile (the one in that room anyway) is rising like the creature from the black lagoon?

    1. Too many = physically buried under books. But then, you could read your way out, so that wouldn't be all bad, either...

  5. LOL!If bookstores had wheeled carts like grocery stores, I'd be in serious trouble with my cash, checkbook and credit cards maxed out.

My TBR pile is now safely hidden on my Kindle and computer hard drive. What a space saver! My other TBR pile is an entire shelving unit in my personal library shelved by genre. Think big if not bigger, it's a 4x8 shelving unit. Not counting the piles by my bed and the one by my gliding rocker.

    1. Some Half Price bookstores do have small, wheeled carts, which means I walk out with a cart-load of books!

    1. Ah, but then you get uninterrupted browsing, and can purchase your stack o' books without anyone needing to know just how many you bought.
