My current obsession...

Is this series.

I'm currently reading book 12 in the Harry Dresden series (Changes), and I have 2 more novels to go before I can start the new book.  I normally don't like to read books from the same author back-to-back-to-back like this because I tend to get burned out.  But in this case I. Can't. Stop. Reading.

I don't know what it is about these books, but they've gotten under my skin.  I want to just sit and read and immerse myself in Harry's Chicago, and I'm constantly looking for an excuse to pick up the book.  It's a literary addiction, and while I'm loving it, I'm also scared of the day I finish because I know it will be a while until the next installment arrives.

What's your current literary obsession?  Have you read the Dresden Files books?  If not, what's the last book that really stuck with you?

  1. The Dresden Files aren't my cuppa, but I'll read anything Diana Gabaldon writes (11 days till Written in My Heart's Own Blood. Squeeeee!) and Joanna Bourne. I know Jo is close on a new book. (Squeeeee! again)

    1. I love Diana's work as well, and Jo is first-rate. Counting down the days until the latest Outlander book!

  2. My current obssession is Paulo Coelho.
I picked up a few of his paperbacks which were marked down, because they were old stock.
Now to find the time to read them...

  3. Ooh, 12 books! Darn, long series are always dangerous for me because I read them all at once and forget about everything else in life!
Finally got around to pre-ordering Moby, though. I went with the German Amazon (was debating between them and the French or UK ones or a local English bookstore - but what's the guarantee they'll even have it, or have enough copies?) and then I found out delivery won't be for two weeks after the release date! How will I wait?

    1. You can always do a re-read. That's what I'm doing in anticipation of MOBY! :)

    1. Mister is the one who introduced me to the series, so if your husband enjoys sci-fi, he might like them!

  6. LOL I have another blogger I follow who is tearing through these too! I've read book one but nothing since. I need to pick them up soon and finish them. My obsession like that is JD Robb's In Death Series. There were 32 or 33 books already in it when I started it and I swear I read them ALL in less than 2 months. I couldn't get enough. So so good! Happy reading!

    1. I have the first book of that series on my shelf, but I've been reluctant to pick it up because I'm afraid of getting sucked in! :)

  7. I have a few authors who I will read back to back, depending on my current reading love (romance, then time travel, then mystery....). But unfortunately when I am writing I find I can't read. So sad...and I miss binge reading a good author. Right now I have to concentrate on several short stories and two novels, all before the end of the year. Maybe I will read next year? ;)

    1. I like to read outside my genre when I'm writing, which is one of the reasons I got sucked in with this series. I hope you find some time to read soon! :)
