Celebrate the Small Things: Comfort food edition
It's time for the weekly Celebrate the Small Things blog hop! Head on over to VikLit's blog for a full list of those participating, or to sign yourself up!
This week, I'm celebrating comfort food. A friend stopped by today with this little gift for me:
Now, I know there are some poor, misguided souls out there who do not appreciate the goodness and wonder that is corned beef hash. Truly, I feel bad for them, but there's no accounting for taste ;)
I can't wait to enjoy this with an egg over-easy on top...
Sorry, had to wipe the drool off the keyboard.
Anyway, what are you celebrating this week?

I have to say I am one of those poor, misguided souls. My favorite comfort food has to be mac and cheese :)Homemade style of course!
ReplyDeletePS: I have also nominated you for the Liebster Award. Check out my blog tomorrow morning when I post the details! www.jawardwrites.com
Aww, thank you so much! I appreciate it!
DeleteMac and cheese is also quite good... Anything with cheese, really--I'm not picky [g]
Comfort food is an excellent thing to celebrate! I'm with you there! :) Thanks for joining in celebrating.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting! [g]
DeleteHmm, not my favourite... I do love ground beef though. Mmm, sauce...
ReplyDeleteGround beef is so versatile--what's your favorite sauce addition?
DeleteI'm a tomato sauce person :-) Lots of herbs and pepper... plus onions and green peppers and - okay, so it's kind of like chili to serve on top of spaghetti. Darn, I'm hungry!
DeleteThat sounds _amazing_!
DeleteOK, that does look good. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks, you too! [g]
DeleteCelebrating that Sonshine finally got his driver's permit. :)
ReplyDeleteComfort food for me is usually sugar or carbs or both in the case of cereal. Fountain root beer is another favorite.
I finally had fountain root beer last summer--it was amazing! I don't know how I made it so long without trying it, but it's now one of life's little treats!
DeleteCongrats to Sonshine on the permit! Very exciting for him!
I want to know, regarding the hash - do you warm it through - or do you warm it through and get a nice, crunchy crust on the bottom? Oh, dear... Now I'M drooling...
ReplyDeleteI like a little crunch on the bottom, because when you break the egg over the top, you don't want it to wind up _too_ soggy. Texture is an important element of flavor, as my dear aunt likes to say... ;)
DeleteSo shame in craving! Hope it will turn out more luscious than you're dreaming of.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm trying not to build it up in my mind too much, which will help minimize any potential disappointment. Fresh is always better, but I'm hoping this will be a decent canned version.
DeleteWell I think I'm celebrating corned beef hash with a fried egg on top now! Ooohhh, that sounds so good! My dad used to make it every year, after we had corned beef on St. Patrick's Day. Yummy! Such good food indeed!
ReplyDeleteOh man, homemade corned beef hash is tough to beat! I hope you got his recipe!
DeleteI am NOT one of those poor misguided souls! I love corned beef... which reminds me, I haven't made it in a while *off to add it to shopping list*
ReplyDeleteYay! :)
DeleteWould you think less of me if I admitted I haven't actually tried it? I've had some fantastic Irish corned beef this year (first time for that), so I'm only one step shy, right?!
ReplyDeleteShannon at The Warrior Muse
If you've had corned beef, you're halfway there! :)
