Celebrate the Small Things - Outdoor edition

One of the nice things about having a house is that now I have a backyard. While I've never really thought of myself as an 'outdoor' girl, I do enjoy being able to have potted plants and bird feeders and the like.  I thought today I'd share some pictures of my yard, and some of my favorite things there.

These are my garden lights.  During the day, the look like unassuming, super-cute figures, but at night, watch them glow!

And finally, meet my new friend.  There is a dove living in my gutter, under one of the eaves.  It's a pretty smart location, since she's in the shade most of the day.  I've taken to calling her Debbie.  Here she is, posing for you :)

Do you like gardening, or being outside?

What are you celebrating this week?

If you've been reading my blog, you know that Fridays are reserved for a post where I celebrate the little things that have happened during the week.  This is a blog hop hosted by VikLit, and it's one of my favorite blogging things to do.  I encourage you to check out her blog and the full list of participants, because who doesn't love reading about good things?

  1. Having a backyard is great! I grew up with a large backyard, and during the few years I lived in apartments, I missed it so much! The backyard we have now isn't huge, but the kids love playing in it!

  2. I love these posts of yours :) Debbie is such a cutie! My mom has a dove pair that live on her property. I'm not much on actually touching nature but don't mind looking at it :)

This week...I'm celebrating my home office finally having paint on the walls! And half the cabinets installed. Next week..the floors :)

  3. Give me my deck surrounded by pecan trees and bird calls on a hot summer morning and all is good. Does Debbie coo for you? I've gotten mourning doves like her to talk to me before. Being a mimic comes in handy, don't you think? ;-)

  5. Pretty! Do the lights change color? I have solar-powered lights in my garden (pretty, spherical, like yours) and They're always a lovely surprise.

another celebration - for me, at least. I have Deadly Contact on my 'Reading' Kindle now and am about to crack the book, so to speak. I'm looking forward to it!

  6. I'm not a garden person. No green fingers here. But your potted plants look cute!
