Iced In, Day 2

Well, I'm still iced in.  Literally.  There is a thick case of ice surrounding the house, making leaving impossible.  Since it's not supposed to get above freezing for the next few days, I don't anticipate this changing any time soon.  Fortunately, I've been keeping busy...

The puzzle is done:

The tree is trimmed:

And most of the gifts are wrapped:

I'm going to finish up my Christmas cards, and then I may move on to <gulp> cleaning.  Hopefully it won't come to that. ;-)

Hope you're having a good weekend!  What are you doing to keep busy and stay warm during the winter weather?

  1. The ice hasn't yet arrived, but tomorrow and Monday, they say. In the meantime, I am cleaning - the contractor is supposed to be here bright and early Monday morning to install 13 new windows - right in the middle of our first real winter storm. We'll see how that pans out - but at least the cleaning will be done. LOL

    1. Something tells me your windows won't be installed on Monday... At least you'll be stuck inside a clean house! :)

  2. Yikes! Sounds like winter 2011 when we were iced in for days. I hope it won't come to cleaning! Good luck, Lara!

    1. Thanks, Zan Marie! So far, I've managed to ignore the cleaning option... :)

  3. When you start cleaning the cracks in your grout with an old toothbrush, you will know you are going stir crazy. If you use your own new one, you need a vacation in Hawaii. Did you say you live in Texas? Yikes!

    1. Too funny! :) And yes, I live in Texas. We're not used to this kind of weather at all, so the whole state has pretty much shut down.

  4. I'm glad you're managing to keep busy while stuck in the house. I think I'd leave cleaning until last too :-)

  5. Oh, no, not cleaning!

So sorry you're iced in. In some ways it sounds so nice. Stuck at home, cozy, being able to relax and catch up on things. But the forced solitude and inability to go out could be very wearing. I hope your heat and water are running and that you're safe.

    1. Fortunately, we never lost power. We're very lucky in that regard, as a lot of people in the area have been without power for days. Overall, I really can't complain about it. :)

  6. Glad to hear you didn't lose power! The first time in my life we had an ice storm we lost power for about a week and our phone lines were down for three (...that sounds so weird to say LOL). I was not as productive as you on my snowed in days! LOL. I pretty much just made soup and hot chocolate and watched some movies. Be safe and stay warm!!

    1. When I lived in the DC area, I lost power for a week after a freak hurricane--I had just moved to the city and didn't know anyone, so it was not an ideal start to my new life. It's amazing how much we rely on electricity these days--I would have made a very bad pioneer woman! ;)

  7. Aww, I wish I was iced in. Awesome ice-productivity!
I haven't done a puzzle in ages. Have to redo my LoTR one because my niece and nephew got into the box and I need to make sure there're no pieces missing [bg]

    1. Oh man, nothing worse than getting to the end and realizing pieces are gone! Fingers crossed for you! :)
