Photo Friday - Cooking edition

I'm not a chef.  I don't even cook that much.  I tell myself it's not because I can't, but because I don't want to.  I'm not sure people believe me when I say this.

Regardless, one of the stars in my limited culinary repertoire is bruschetta. I made a batch today for my mom's book club, and it seemed to go over well, if the empty bowl was any indication.

Do you cook?  What's your signature dish?

  1. Love, love bruschetta! I've recently found an enjoyment of cooking and it's been fun to experiment with different things. Someday when the kids are older I might really be able to get into it.

  2. I love to cook and bake! Good thing I was a chef too. My signature dish is Prime rib encased in wild mushroom compote wrapped in herbs and black pepper bacon. A sight to behold and enough savory components to tickle everyone's taste buds.

In baking my signature dish is a toss up between my decadent triple chocolate Death Cake and my Fresh Blueberry pop tart with strawberry glaze. Or it might be my low fat, no sugar triple marbled cheesecake served with fresh fruit compote. Hard to decide. They were all super best sellers in my restaurants.

  3. Looks delish! I made bruschetta this weekend, as well.

I, like you, am not being on cooking but I do have couple of rather simple chicken dishes I make regularly. May favorite recent discovery is "herb-crusted" chicken. It inolves bathing the chicken breasts in and egg-white wash and then coating them with panko bread crumbs and a variety of italian spices. Super easy, very tasty, and reheats easily. Can't do better than that.

    1. Sounds amazing! I love stuff that reheats well, since I usually take leftovers for lunch the next day.

  4. Looks delicious!!! Now I want :-/

I don't consider myself a cook... but I can make certain things, plus I have to cook daily but I'm still not a cook 0_o

I can't pinpoint my dishes but I'm good at cupcakes :D

    1. I love cupcakes! I wish I had the patience for baking, but I just don't. Besides, things taste better when other people make them. :)

  5. That looks like a sauce we call here Pico de Gallo. What is this made of?

    1. I think it's the Italian version of Pico. It's got tomatoes, basil, garlic, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, parmesean cheese, and a dash of salt and pepper.

  6. I do cook, but like you I don't care to. My signature dish is a mushroom (meat, when mushrooms aren't in season) vegetable dish, where the vegetables are chunky. Oh my, thinking about it makes me want to get in the kitchen (almost)
